Your impact as our Backend Software Engineer:
As our newest Evergrow Software Engineer, you will be working in a dynamic environment where you can make a significant impact, collaborating closely with our team to design, build, and maintain the back-end systems that power our products. Your role will involve not just coding, but also shaping the architecture and influencing the technical direction of our projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an early-stage start-up setting, enjoys problem-solving, and is excited about tackling challenging technical issues. You will be directly responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient backend systems and APIs
- Implementing and supporting our deployment and serving infrastructure
- Ensuring the security and integrity of our systems and data
- Collaborating with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products
- Troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing performance issues
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of our development processes and best practices
- Working independently and proactively in a fast-paced start-up environment
- Participating in a collaborative and empowering team culture
We’re looking for someone who:
- Embodies our values and passions about solving the climate crisis
- Has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Has 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a focus on infrastructure or security, and an enthusiasm to contribute in a fast-paced start-up environment
- Is proficient in Python, and has a strong understanding of database technologies (SQL, Postgres) and data modeling
- Is experienced with cloud platforms like AWS
- Is knowledgeable about security best practices and has experience implementing secure systems
- Is able to collaborate in person in San Francisco three days per week (required)

Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
